Jon Powell is the Associate Director for Surface Care Research & Development in the Home Care division of Procter & Gamble. He has responsibilities for the development and delivery of products within the global Swiffer and Mr. Clean brand portfolios.
Jon joined P&G in 2000 and has worked exclusively within the Home Care division working on brands such as Swiffer, Mr. Clean, Dawn, Cascade, and Febreze. In the 19 years since he started, he has worked on numerous successful product launches for the brands and has seen Home Care grow to over $6bn in sales. Jon has been a leading advocate within P&G for sustainable programs and messaging such as compaction in Dawn Ultra and messaging of ‘No need to pre-rinse’ for Cascade Platinum. He pushes the use of Life Cycle Analysis to create scientific based decisions for innovation, while realizing the need to balance consumer needs. Recently, Jon was on the very small team responsible for launching the Home Made Simple brand of products.
Jon received his B. S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a M.S. in Chemical Engineering in a joint-program with the University of Illinois and the National University of Singapore.
